Re: GIO Transfer Go-Ahead Given
Brilliant work Roger! I'm very much an outsider (just can't get the time to deep dive into my fab FCB1010) but I know how much time these things can take to organise so THANK YOU from me for moving things forward in challenging times! Steve

Re: Member transfer and payment steps?

Hi Francine (and others), First of all, there's no point in registering at the new GIO group as it should happen automatically when the transfer is complete and, besides, there's no content there yet. Once we've moved, you'll find the Donations tab. Upon clicking you will see the request to cover Forum Costs. What's also displayed is the running total and number of donations already made. Thanks for your support! Roger Colwell FCB1010 Group Moderator

GIO Premium Plan Increases
Roger Colwell
Wow! It seems we narrowly avoided the price hike that will come into force later today. From GIO, I quote: Like everyone, we were taken by surprise when Yahoo announced they
will be shutting down Yahoo Groups in just a few short weeks. Groups.io
runs a world-class email groups service and has quickly been recognized
as the best migration option for Yahoo Groups users. We are flattered by
this recognition, and have been overwhelmed with traffic and group
transfer requests as a result. We have spent the days since Yahoo's
announcement diligently adding new server capacity and starting to work
through an unprecedented number of transfer requests.
Fortunately, Groups.io has always been built to scale and already has
a user base in excess of 1 million users today. In order to accommodate
this major growth phase while maintaining our excellent service levels
and industry-leading functionality, we will need to adjust our pricing
as follows. As of 9AM Pacific Time, October 22:
What concerns me now is whether FCB1010_UNO are onboard with us, or not, and whether they have time to beat this deadline with a payment! Roger Colwell FCB1010 Group Moderator

Re: Bye Bye Yahoo!
Roger Colwell
Yes, afaik we will only incur a fee for one Premium Plan per year (we save $10 over the per month cost), after the first year. Things have moved on considerably since my last message in that I've paid to transfer the FCB1010 Group and invited the Transfer Agent to join this group. Due to the sheer volume of transfer requests happening at present there will ultimately be a lengthy delay before that invitation is responded to (possibly a week+), upon which I will provide the agent with moderator status, then indicate we are ready for them to start the transfer process. I have also opened a Stripe account and created a GIO Donations Request that only Members can see. It is fully transparent in that it displays the number of donations and the total value of them, along with reasons for the request. The Stripe account will only be used for this; it's unfortunate that the combined charges for Stripe and GIO's processing may exceed 8.0% but we'll have to accept that. If you look at it this way, we'll not only be supporting ourselves but the longevity of GIO's presence too. Providing Xavier (ossandust) and I discuss/finalise his offer where he pays for Uno transfer, I can then get it paid for and organised with GIO. I will email Xavier shortly ... Roger, with regards to the UnO group you'd better get in contact with Chris "sliding billy at hotmail dot com", he has been the UnO group owner and moderator for all those years.

Re: FCB1010 with Roland UM-ONE Usb Midi Interface
EJ SHELDON
Being a PC guy, I don't know from MAC. But it seems to me that if you're receiving in MIDI Studio (whatever that is), then the problem has to be in MIDI Monitor (MAC MIDIOX equivalent?), not the FCB or the interface.

Re: Bye Bye Yahoo!
EJ SHELDON
I'm assuming that the two groups are FCB1010 and FCB1010_UNO?
Would the $220 be one time only for transfer, and $110 per year thereafter?

I haven’t used my 1010 in many years. But, when I was having troubles with figuring this thing out, this Group was monumental in finally getting that worked out. I would be happy to donate $20.00 to this cause. Just let me know what I need to do!

Re: Bye Bye Yahoo!

Seems to me the responders on this topic are comfortable with the FCB1010.
I’m wondering - isn’t the primary (evolved) function of the group to provide instruction outside of that zone?
So why not use a wiki or BB? Downloads of content or programs could be hosted off-site or simply re-directed to their origin.
But maybe I’m stuck decades ago J

Collect the initial $110.00 by means of PayPal, set up the page and the Stripe donation link afterwards. By yourselves a year to get things back to normal-ish.
