Ooh that's interesting. Thank you ossandust.

I've just bought and installed the Uno chip (I'm only 10-15 years behind the times haha) so will give that a go first. But will keep uno2 in mind for future. Thanks again, appreciated.

Brilliant reply, thanks very much chrisw. Just what I was looking for, and lots of good things for me to try out. Appreciated. Steve

UnO2 firmware gives some nice features for creating an inexpensive bass pedal:
you can define a variable which contains the transpose value - it can be incremented/decremented with 2 switches, and added to the note values of each note switch.
You can use a "wait" command to send fixed-length notes so that you don't need to keep the switches pressed
You can trigger as many NoteOn/NoteOff commands as you want with 1 switch, so you can play pre-programmed chords or note sequences
Instead of using 2 transpose buttons you can also create a bank for each scale, and fast-scroll through up to 200 banks

Re: Sysex for all 12 scales

Well, there are 7 different notes in a typical scale, though most consider the octave root to be a needed part.  So that's 8 notes. The easiest arrangement would be to pick the ten most used keys and program them in, ten notes per key, one to a bank.  Or, at least, have the keys for that gig programmed in prior to playing.  Only having 8 or even ten notes of a scale to play is a little limiting, but it works.  Unless you're willing to invest (and I mean Inve$t) in a bass pedal controller, it's what you have to work with.

So the question really has to be: what are you using to sound the notes?  Hopefully whatever you're using has a Transpose function that can be controlled by MIDI.  Simply assign, for instance, 9 and 10 to Transpose Down and Transpose Up.  Then you have 1-8 as notes.  You could have each bank be a different musical mode.  Ionian (major), Dorian, ...Mixolydian, Aeolian (natural minor)...  Maybe have a jazz scale option - Pentatonic, etc..  The neat thing about modes with bass is:  If you find yourself wanting to play, say, B as a leading tone to the root C (or the seventh, whatever key), you can slide right up to Locrian and B is now your lowest note.  You could get really complicated with this.  Get a Bome Box and have it translate one of the pedals to send the MIDI you set as a Transpose message - then you'd have all ten switches as notes. If you're using a computer, it can do all the grunt work (cycle through patches for scales), and you could even transform your phone into a simple wireless MIDI controller to send the Transpose MIDI for you.

Logic will never see the FCB1010. It WILL see the MIDI interface that it's connected to. I'm not sure how Logic works, but most DAWs require you to bring in the MIDI signals on a MIDI track, then point the Output of that track at the track where AT4 is loaded.
You only have to worry the MIDI Channel if something you're sending from the FCB is also assigned to the Logic UI. If Logic does strange things when you operate the FCB, go into the FCB Global settings and change the global MIDI channel to something other than Channel 1.

Sysex for all 12 scales

Steve Pettinger

hi,

has anyone come across a clever way of organising the fcb (uno) pedals so you could play all/most of the 12 major scales (for example as bass notes) during a gig?

ive had a good look around but I can’t spot anything, and I’m thinking there must be a cleverer way rather than just notes 1 to 100 which would mean switching banks mid song.

all suggestions welcome, thanks....steve

Logic pro uses MIDI channel 1 to transmit/receive all MIDI signals from your MIDI network. This said, if your FCB1010 is sending signals through channel 1, they are all mixed with Logic Pro IAC midi signals.

All you have to do is to change your FCB1010 MIDI channel to any other channel available different of channel 1, let’s say channel 2 and also Amplitube to receive MIDI signals in the same channnel.

This should work...

Hi Bruce.

I have the original FCB1010. I did a bit of research regarding the UnO chip, and it looks like I need the UnO2 chip to be able to properly control my Roland FR-8x.

Thank you for your reply.

1.  Make sure the chip is the right direction.  It should be inserted such that the semicircle "notch" on the top of the chip is close to the cylindrical component (capacitor) next to the end of the socket.
2.  Push it in evenly and slowly but firmly, making sure it goes in all the way.  These sockets can be pretty touchy.
3.  Make sure there are no pins sticking out the side of the socket.  It's easy for the pins to get bent even slightly and miss the socket terminal.
4.  Make sure that the two yellow wires soldered to the board near that chip are intact and well soldered.
5.  There is a 0.1A (100mA) glass type T fuse in the AC receptacle where the power cord plugs in.  Make sure that fuse is still good (you'll likely see if it's burned out through the glass part of the fuse).

Hopefully, The chip just isn't making a good connection in the socket, and it just takes a another insertion to get that connection solid. And hopefully, there isn't any damage to the main board. I do have to say, and I've been in electronics manufacturing for a couple of  decades, behringer used some very, very thin traces on that board. It takes almost nothing to scratch a trace open, even through the conformal coat that's on the board.  And even small flexing of the board or components can result in breaks in the trace around the solder pads.  The copper layer is incredibly thin. Too bad they couldn't spend another $0.10 per board to double the copper thickness. Oh well.

Hope this helps.

FCB1010 Controller Software for Amplitube 4 on Mac OS Catalina 10.15.6

Geoff Packman

Hi All, I have a question.
i was using IFCB to control my FCB1010 with Amplitube 4 Max
i upgraded to Mac OS Catalina 10.15.6 and IFCB no longer worked as it is not 64 bit. I have been in touch with the developers but they are not going to re-write the software to 64 bit so I am left with my guitar system not working!!!
Is there any other software available to control the FCB1010?

Re: Need help

chrisw_63

Did you turn off Omni mode on the H7600?  No matter what you set the Base channel to, Omni mode forces it to accept MIDI on any channel.  It must be turned off for your setup.

Did you set any other MIDI channels?  Apparently the H7600 lets you set a different MIDI channel (including Omni) for each control, but it ADDS whatever number you set to the base to get the actual channel!  This is the oddest MIDI setup I've ever heard of.  And the manual doesn't say whether the offsets can go to zero!  So if your Base channel is '1' and your controller channel is '1', that controller receives on ...MIDI channel 2!  How do you set them to all be the same channel?  Hopefully they go to zero so they can all be the same, because it would be insane otherwise.
