Re: Expression Pedals, Amplitube 4, Reaper 6.19

SOLVED!!
I.D.10-T Error!!

In my PC editor, I had the wrong MIDI input selected.  So none of my preset edits were being uploaded to the FCB!  I changed the MIDI input, trandsmitted the SysEx one more time and viola'!  It works as expected.  Thanks for the tips, though.  I knew I had to be overlooking something minor that was causing it to not send any data.

I think I have it setup how you described.  I exited Reaper and went into the Amplitube standalone version.  My audio input and MIDI input appear set correctly.  When I step on pedal 1, I see the MIDI indicator in the lower right corner of Amp4 flash.  But when I rock Exp B I get nothing.  No flash.
Here's a couple screen shots of what I have going on.  Can you take a look?

The following assumes that you are using the stock FCB Chip (not UNO):

The EXP pedals have to be configured in every preset.
You have to select a preset before the pedals become active.

In Amplitube MIDI>Control Change>GLOBAL there's a parameter for WAH. It needs to be set to the CC# that your EXP pedal is sending.
The WAH needs to be turned on using a DIFFERENT CC# assigned to the specific Slot that the WAH is in.

NOTE: the following Global Slot Bypass settings are for AT3/4, NOT AT5.In AT5 the Stomp Slot Bypass needs to be set PER PRESET. PITA!
Support has been notified that this is contrary to what it says in the AT5 manual. HOPEFULLY they'll fix that!

ITRW, WAH usually comes first in the signal chain (or after the tuner), so for this example, Slot 1
IF you put the WAH in Stomp A Slot 1
AND assign an FCB button to send CNT1 = CC# (your choice) + Value 0 (ON in AT); CNT2 = SAME CC# + Value = 127 (OFF in AT) to Slot 1
AND assign the EXP A (or B) to a DIFFERENT CC#
AND assign that CC# to the WAH parameter
AND do that in every FCB preset that corresponds to an Amplitube Preset that contains a WAH
THEN the WAH will be ON and the EXP pedal ACTIVE when you press the FCB Button to call the Amplitube Preset, and succesive presses of the button will toggle the WAH ON/OFF.

If you don't want the WAH to be active when you call the Amplitube preset just reverse the CNT1/CNT2 Values (127/0 vs 0/127).

There you go!

Using UNO is SO much easier.....

Expression Pedals, Amplitube 4, Reaper 6.19

Hello,
I think I must be overlooking something obvious here but I cannot get my expression pedals to do anything in Reaper. I'd like to set Exp B to be my wah-wah pedal in Amplitube 4. (I'm in the middle of a project, so I haven't upgraded to 5 yet.)  I have Reaper configured correctly (I think)  It sees MIDI input from the switch pedals 1-10, but no input from either rocker pedal.  I double checked the calibration on each expression pedal as I saw suggested in a few other threads while searching, but otherwise I can't get them to do anything.
I was able to get Amplitube to see pedal 1 as a hard high and low setting on the wah. (press once and it sets the wah to 0%, press again and the wah jumps to 100%) so I know I have my tracks configured correctly.  But I'm not sure what to change in my programming to get the expression pedals active. I'm using the Ed Dixon PC editor.  It looks like the pedals are activated in the editor, but zilch when I try to use them in Reaper.
What am I overlooking?

Thank you so much for the info, but the problem is with the new Boss Rc500.

I had the 505 and it worked ok with the chip.

Re: Setting Up The Fcb1010 with The new Boss RC-500q

The FCB-505 firmware just sends a hardcoded MIDI message with each switch press/release, it doesn't contain banks, it doesn't require any setup, so there can be no problem with a MIDI interface.
You can find the MIDI messages sent by the FCB-505 firmware on the first page of the manual ( https://www.fcb1010.eu/downloads/FCB-505.pdf ) . You will need to configure the RC-500 to react to those specific messages on that specific channel, just like with the RC-505. Apparently MIDI settings are explained on p.13 of the parameter guide.
If you say that the unit "disconnects" (MIDI "turning off") I suspect that it is in some mode for syncing the MIDI clock of 2 units. Simply controlling the RC-500 parameters from the FCB1010 doesn't require any 2-way communication so it shouldn't trigger any "disconnect" error.

Thanks to all of you for the advice on pc software. I echo the sentiment of the free software route when possible but know when it's time to pay to get results.
On free software, midi wrench is good for ipad/phone. Free and it will read your midi messages. You need an apple camera adapter lead though. Thanks again for taking the time to respond.  Strve

Setting Up The Fcb1010 with The new Boss RC-500q

Hello Everyone, thanks for taking the time to read this topic that some people may find interesting if resolved :-) !!

I recently purchase both FCB1010 and RC500.  I previously connected the FCB1010 to a RC505 and it worked fine with the addition of the fcb505 chip.   I ended up selling the rc505 because i wanted to have a floor pedal instead of desktop.
The Issue:   I can not get  both equipment to work together.  The Fcb1010 would only send the channel number instead of actions, and the RC500 keeps on disconnecting (midi turning off)  from FCB1010 somehow.  Could it be an incompatibility issue?

Please help if someone has been able to connect and work with these 2 great units!

Its greatly appreciated it.!

I second (third) what the others say - UnoControlCenter is brilliant. I'm reluctant to spend on software to do things I can probably somehow do for free but this has been totally worth it.

My "three point plan" I would recommend to anyone to get the best out the FCB is:

- Watch the "in the mix" video
- Get an Uno chip
- Get Uno Control Center

Hi everyone
Is anyone using an effective pc editor for the 1010?
I have installed windows FCB 1010 PC EDITOR. & FCB1010 MANAGER, but neither are working although I get data flow I tried a test setup as per YouTube vid by " in the mix" FCB1010 manager The test is at market 22.30 mins. The test sets up a cc message but on checking my patch does not change and an error message ocures.
I have not tried a mac version as yet. My chip version is 2.501E
Thanks guys for any suggestions as to an effective pc editor

Re: Quit VST plugin responding to FCB1010 - Cubase 10.5 PRO

chrisw_63

I switch it around a bit. I set my FCB1010 to channel 7, One and done.  Most VST's will listen to channel 1 (or whatever you call the first channel) by default, so they never see the FCB1010, and I rarely have to change the channel a VST is listening on.  Just let the DAW take care of the MIDI routing.

Muting tracks is a Cubase function. Changing presets in a VST is a VST function.
Cubase likely listens on Ch1. Set your VST commands to send on CH 2, and set the VST to listen on CH 2.
Can't tell you specifically how to do that in Cubase (tried Cubase, hated it!), but it's a piece of cake normal procedure in every other DAW (Reaper, LIVE, Cakewalk, even ProTools!).

Quit VST plugin responding to FCB1010 - Cubase 10.5 PRO

I've finally managed to map my FCB1010 on Cubase 10.5 PRO. Now the last problem that I want to resolve is that while I'm pressing a pedal to have a specific result (just muting some tracks and unmuting some others) it also interferes with the single VST plugins and suddenly changes the sound I'm playing. It's like having a double mapping, one for the Mixer and one for the single plugins, but for the second one I don't know where to quit the messages sending. Can you tell me how can I do this? Thank you in advance.

Re: Volume pedal starts at -db

steve alldridge

Thanks. EJ Sheldon You put me on the right track. The global setting in HXStomp was already set to per preset all I had to do  was set the main output volume I required per patch and save it at that. So now when recalling a patch the volume is as I would want it  and by operating the volume pedal it will vary in response to position. A big thank you.

Global Settings>Exp Pedals - set the Exp Pedal to Per Preset. In your HXS Preset, set the level you want the Exp pedal at when the Preset loads and SAVE the Preset. Keep in mind that the FCB Exp Pedal will NOT be at that level - one way communication. You'll have to move the pedal to where the HXS is set before the level will change, but at least you'll have the correct level when the preset loads..

The type of programming involved with using the UNO2 Chip Editor vs the Stock or UNO chip using the UNO-ControlCenter GUI is night and day. The UNO2 Chip is fully programmable, but you're using actual programming language vs the easy GUI method of UNO_ControlCenter. My advice is to get UNO_ControlCenter and if you can't do what you want with the stock chip OR UNO Mode (you don't need the chip to check out the capabilities), then consider getting the UNO2 Chip.

Your email is confusing but you have to have a value programmed on the switch to auto learn it.  You need to know if your device wants to auto learn a CC or  PC message then program the switch then your device can auto learn

Hello everyone.
I am new to this group and I'm glad to join this FCB1010 community. I bought my FCB1010 last month, and I'm trying to map it with Cubase 5. The problem is that when I try to do it with the generic remote device control, every time I press a pedal with midi learn it always brings it to "Prog. Change - MIDI Ch. 1 - Address 0", the same for each pedal, even if I set different CCs manually for each preset. Of course sending all the messages to Address 0, the pedalboard doesn't communicate with Cubase and doesn't do the things I want to do (basically for me, mute and unmute the different midi channels). The FCB1010 is linked to the computer with a cable midi in/out - usb. Can you help me with this? Thank you in advance!
