Re: Can't configure Expression pedals CC per each preset

dr.jetset@...

I haven't bought the chip myself(bought second hand fcb1010 with chip installed already).

By saying spreadsheet view I assume preset grid? I have attached it to this message. Let me know if's not what you're asking for.

I have attached .lgp as well.

Thank you!

Re: FCB1010 Uno Chip - Expression Pedal Independence

It sounds like you want UNO2.

Using UNO2, FS10 can be set to call a special DIRECT BANK, in which FS1-9 always have the same assigned functions, regardless of where you were when you hit FS10.

So, in your scenario, you would hit FS10, hit the FS assigned to the RECORD function, then hit FS10 again while Ableton is counting in, returning you to wherever you were. There's no affect to the assigned Expression pedals. The only possible drawback is that, once the DIRECT BANK function is enabled, it grabs FS10 in every regular bank.

Also, the Exp Pedal assignments remain over all Banks and Presets, unless you re-assign them specifically. They can also be assigned Globally.

Additionally, you can assign a virtual "Tipswitch" or "Heelswitch" to mimic the action of a physical button, as on a real Wah. No need to dedicate a FS to that function.

Basically, you can assign any FS in any Bank to do most anything, including perform multiple actions and send multiple mixed messages of your choosing on multiple channels.

The price for this power is that UNO2 does not use a GUI editor like the stock chip or normal UNO, it requires programming in a simple programming language using a text editor, which comes with the chip, and it has a VERY good manual for it's use.

FCB1010 Uno Chip - Expression Pedal Independence

Earth.Sky.Surf5@...

I have the FCB1010 controller as from Behringer (i.e. no UNO chip installed). If I program any of the ten buttons (0,1,2 ...9), to be able to send data out on the expression pedal, this must be assigned to that particular button. I want the independence of some buttons controlling what the expression pedal gets assigned to whilst other buttons do other things leaving the previously assigned expression pedal controller number in tact -- the Behriner FCB1010 can not do this but can it be done with the UNO chip?. An example will explain.

So here is the scenario I am aiming for, as an example:

Bank 1, Button 1:
Sends a message to the continuous controller (CC), channel 2, number 10, value 64. Say this toggles record on/record off in Ableton Live.
Bank 3, Button 2:
Maps expression pedal A to send CC values to channel 2, number 90. This would for instance enable controlling say the cut-off frequency in a Wah Wah effect.
Sends out CC, channel 2, number 20, value 64. This would for instance turn on/off the Wah Wah effect in Ableton Live.

So here I am happily jamming away after pressing Button 2 on Bank 3 (Wah Wah) and decide, I want to record this. So I switch to bank 1 and press button 1, now since the FCB1010 was programmed without the expression pedal for this button for this bank, I have lost my Wah Wah expression :( . Typically I will have several different effects, all with different controller numbers, so I can not assigned the one controller number to them all and just use that one controller number for all my FCB1010 Buttons/Banks. If the FCB1010 is programmed for a particular button/bank, if the expression pedal is set as nothing, this effectively disables that expression pedal. Typically my FCB1010 layout has 6 banks, so I do not want to be switching banks unnecessarily.

So I am after a capability to once an expression pedal has been assigned a controller number on one button/bank, I can use other buttons/banks but not kill or reset the previously assigned controller number to the expression pedal.

So can this be done with the UNO Chip? If so, which edition of the UNO can do this?

It might also mean the FCB1010 is doomed and a different controller would be needed :( .

Assuming that you took the time to read the manual and are actually using the editor correctly, you can now be fairly certain that your chip is bad (purchased from an eBay pirate perhaps?) and purchase the newest version of the UNO chip (v1.0.4 - from the source preferably ) and you already have the proper editor.

Not a waste of money at all.

Before you take the next step, make a screenshot of the spreadsheet view of your configuration, attach it and a copy of the sysex (.lgp) file to your reply, I'll have a look at it to see if it tells me anything.

Just bought the software. Was a money waste. It says that I have  1.0.3 chip though. Problem stays the same.

When I configure expression pedals to send 1/20 1/21 it sends  1/27 and 1/7 through all the presets.

Re: Can't configure Expression pedals CC per each preset

If you get the v1.0.4 chip, you'll still need the UNO_ControlCenter Editor. Why not get that FIRST, in case you DON'T need a new chip?

Re: Can't configure Expression pedals CC per each preset

dr.jetset@...

Yes, I use FCB1010 Editor, but the problem is the same when I have tried programming it by hand manually.

I think buying new chip would be better, no? There is high chance that software won't solve the problem

Re: Can't configure Expression pedals CC per each preset

Sorry, I messed up. I meant CC number. Thank you for pointing out, learned something new!

I have tried global reset, the problem stays the same

Re: Can't configure Expression pedals CC per each preset

First, I need to point out that CC's have a number and a value.  I'm going to assume you meant CC number in your post, since CC value is what changes when you move the pedal (knob, fader...).  But other than that, yeah.. assuming you're programming it correctly, something is messed up.  Have you tried the global reset?  (FSW 1 and 6 held down during power up - release when the countdown gets to 00.)

You mentioned in your deleted post that you are using the FCB1010 Editor. While that editor is compatible with v1.0.2, it is NOT fully compatible with v1.0,2g.
I know this for a fact, as that is the version that I had before switching to UNO2.

Get the UNO_ControlCenter Editor. It's not FREE (<>$22), but it's worth every penny.

Can't configure Expression pedals CC per each preset

dr.jetset@...

Hi,

I bought used FCB1010, chip picture is attached. It's confiusing: the chip corrected by someones hand and says version "3" instead "2". When I oped FCB1010 pc editor it says that the chip is 1.0.2g

I can't configure Expression pedals CC per each preset, buttons are allright.  Changed CC applies to all presets(00, 01,02,03,04,05,06,07,08,09) of Expression pedals. I have tried sending sysex using editor, as well as  manually by buttons... same problem.

For example:
Preset00. -- Expression pedal A CC value is 50.
Switch to Preset01. -- Configure  Expression pedal A to CC value 18.
Go back to Preset 00. --  Move pedal A. It sends CC value 18.

It should have stayed CC value 50...  CC value 18 applies to all presets 00,01,02,03... etc. No matter which preset I chose to configure it resets all other. By having this I only can have 2 Expression pedal values for all 10 presets. When I should have at least 20.

Any idea what should I do? It's a chip bug? If it is chip problem, which chip would be the best?

Thank you in advance

Even though that editor supports UnO 1.0.2 the general consensus around here is that you would be wisest to invest in the UnO_Control Center Editor which is not free, but worth every penny.

I have a lightly used FCB1010 for sale.  It has the UNO chip installed.
I still have the original chip, and will include it with purchase.
Will come with the case and power cord as shown.

I just want it out of the house and not sitting in a landfill somewhere.

$50 plus actual shipping (could be $40 or $50) given the size and weight, o.b.o.

I'm selling it 'cause I bought the SoftStep 2.

I would only add that, while you CAN configure the FCB manually as in the video, it's MUCH easier with an editor such as the FREE MtnSystems/Ed Dixon Editor available here:

www.mtnsys.com/?path=faq-fcb/PCEditorBeta.htm%3f

Better yet is the UNO_ControlCenter Editor available here:

FCB/UnO Control Center for the Behringer FCB1010

It's not free, but it's cheap at the price and worth every penny.

Wasn’t going to chime in since Ed’s already on it but since I don’t really know Abelton I thought I’d do a quick google.

Here’s the first hit maybe it will be a good starting point for you. I believe it refers to Live 9 but the process for conjoining that with the FCB1010 is the same:

Bonne chance!

Go for it!
Your results will depend largely on your needs. If your needs exceed the capabilities of the stock chip, you can always upgrade later to the UNO2 Chip and program it to do whatever you want. However, starting with the stock chip will help you to define your needs, and make the upgrade (if needed) much easier to program.

I just picked up my FCB1010 today (used for $50).  It has the V2.5 Chip and I want to use it for Ableton Live to do live performance looping/launching of clips, controlling effects.  I tried searching, but could not find info.  Should I buy Uno/Eureka or should I just dive in with V2.5?

Hi, thank you for pointing me in the right direction, I bought the UnO Control Center Editor and was able to get everything working perfectly with little difficulty, it was definitely worth the money!
