THANKS for all of your help.  Upgraded to 5.0.2 per your comment and everything now works.

It works the same with both Toggling and Non-Toggling CCs, which indicates that it ignores the CC Values.
I reset the HXS and AT5 to use CC#15 for RECORD, still works fine.

I also had another go with the Looper, which seems to have been fixed in the latest update (which could be why they're ignoring me).

Are you on the latest version (5.0.2) of AT5?

The only thing I can't figure at this point is the purpose of the REWIND function. You can't (as far as I can tell) stop the transport at a specific point in the recording, so REWIND seems superfluous.

The Ed Dixon Editor only supports UNO up to v1.0.2.
You need the UNO_ControlCenter Editor which is not free, but worth every penny.

Hi Joseph,

You say you could get the WAH to work. Also to get the WAH off in a preset?

George

Ed,

I think we are seeing different results.  I can get LOOPER to work as well as WAH and VOLUME.  However I cannot get REC or REWIND to work.  I’m assuming those would record on a selected track  in the 8-Track recorder but nothing happens.

Help with FCB1010 w/ UnO v.1.0.4 setup - What software/editor do I use, and why do some of the footswitches not send any signal?

Eric Bruno

Hello,

I'm new here and have just finished installing the UnO v1.0.4 chip into my FCB1010, but I'm having no success actually using the device so far.  I have plugged a MIDI cable from it's MIDI Out into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4's MIDI In.  The Scarlett interface is then connected to my PC by USB.

I have downloaded and installed Ed Dixon's FCB1010 PC Editor version 2.99-7, which supposedly supports UnO v.1.0.4, but when I load up my Focusrite USB MIDI as my MIDI In & Out Device in the program, then click "Chk Firmware", it says "Behriner - Unknown Version", rather than recognizing my UnO chip.

Also, when I go into the MIDI I/O tab, click "Start MIDI Receive", and begin stepping on the footswitches, only a few of the switches are actually sending any signals!

1, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 all send signals, whereas 3, 5, 7, and 9 do not.
Up and Down do not send any signal.
Manipulating the two expression pedals does not send any signal.

Clicking on the all 10 numbered switches does change the red LED indicator to that switch, though.  And pressing Up & Down does change double-digit LED number on the pedalboard as well.

What's going on?  Did I install my chip wrong and break some of the functionality of the pedal, or am I just using the wrong software, or do I need to do some switch-sequence when I power up the pedalboard so that it resets something?

Any help from here would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Again, unless I’m missing something, it seems the majority of the global CC’s in AT5 don’t work.

I will continue to harass them until they respond.
I'll report back then.

FCB1010 to Control Global CC's on Amplitube 5

Joseph Hammons

Hi again, I am completely new to Midi and trying to use the FCB1010 with UnO firmware 1.0.3 trying to use Amplitube 5 on a Mac running Big Sur 11.2.3.  I can get the FCB1010 to control AmpliTube presets and there are some good YouTube videos on how to use the FCB expression pedals to control Amplitube wah and volume pedals and I have got that to work successfully.  The other key things I wanted to do is to control the LOOPER function and REC and REWIND in the live mode.  I can get LOOPER, to work, but not REC and REWIND.  For LOOPER, I got it to work by using Global Change Control 15 on Preset 34 and then

using Amplitube’s Learn command.

When I then hit preset 34, it controls the Looper.  However is I clear Amplitube’s global setting and use the Learn command to set preset 34 to REC:

Nothing happens.  I have installed Midi Monitor to make sure my Mac is receiving the Midi commands and it is.

What am I missing or doing wrong?

Correct and complete answers. I have nothing to add.
Or maybe 1 presumption (not a fact) : when in the selection dropdownbox the interface name is shown as something general like "USB MIDI interface", it means that the interface doesn't have its own driver, and it relies on the default driver of the OS. This has more chance to fail than a brand specific driver which normally has been tested on the different supported operating systems before release.
The issue with the trial version communication check is that it doesn't want to interfere with the current setup in the FCB1010. Therefore it just uploads the setup from FCB1010 to computer, and checks the validity of the received sysex format. The "invalid respose" error is caused by a more extensive communication check, as mentioned in a previous reply: after each patchdump (from computer to FCB1010) the editor again requests the stored patchdump (from FCB1010 to computer), and double checks if the sent content and received content match byte-by-byte.

You see that rectangular widget on the cable? That's the interface. You may need to enable RECEIVE SYSEX on the FCB (read the FCB Manual for directions). That may have been made unnecessary on v1.0.3, but I'm not sure.

Make sure that in ControlCenter/SETUP/Select MIDI Ports that both the IN and OUT ports are set correctly. Also, the DIN connectors on those type of interfaces are usually marked IN and OUT. Counter-intuitively, the one marked IN goes to the FCB OUT and vice versa.

If it still doesn't work, odds are good that while it will work with a MIDI keyboard, and it uploaded the sysex from the FCB, it won't correctly pass the sysex that's created by ControlCenter going the other way. There's a list of compatible interfaces in the DATABASE section of the UNO area in this forum.

Among others, these are known to work:

Re: Amplitube 5 on Mac with FCB1010

You ARE using a MIDI/USB interface.  It's that box in the middle of the cable.  If it weren't a MIDI/USB interface, it would be useless, because 5-pin DIN MIDI and USB don't speak each other's language.

While the price on that one would make you think it's a decent quality, I've never heard of that brand before.  Of course, the higher price could be reflecting the USB C connector.  I hope you still have the package, because I'm fairly sure you'll want to return it.  Invalid response during patchdump means the FCB1010 didn't get the same data that the computer sent out.  If nothing else has changed, it pretty much has to be the 'Fasgear' interface.  I'd wait for Ossandust to respond, just to be sure it can't be something else, but the good ones I've heard that work are the iConnectivity 'mio', Roland UM-ONE, and M-Audio Uno.  I think there was one more, but I don't remember the name (have we started that Uno2 Compatibility List yet?).

If it's the interface, the problem is the cheaper USB/MIDI adapters don't have a large buffer (RAM memory), and a SYSEX message like the one used to program the FCB1010 is pretty large.  USB is many times faster than MIDI, and the computer just sends the whole thing as fast as it can.  The USB device can tell the computer to wait while it empties the buffer, but these companies don't even bother to program that feature.  When the buffer gets full, the data that's still coming is lost, and Control Center lets you know about it.

Amplitube 5 on Mac with FCB1010

Joseph Hammons

Hi,

I am a complete beginner in using midi.  I bought a Behringer FCB1010 on eBay with the UnO V1.0.3 to use to control Amplitube 5 on my Mac (running Big Sur).  To program the FCB1010, I also purchased the FCB/UnO Control Center version 2.  Prior to purchasing, I ran the trial version of ControlCenter which allowed you to establish a connection with the FCB1010 and upload its setups which was stated to confirm it works with your set-up.  I have the FCB1010 connected to my Mac with a USB/Midi cable  (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08J6XVWFN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) and no interface in between.  However when I try and use the Control Center to send a configuration to the FCB1010, it disconnects and I get the error "Invalid response during patchdump". FCB/UnO referred me to this forum and said to look at the Midi interface.  Since I am not using a midi interface and only a cable between my Mac and the FCB1010, will my configuration work?  Since I could upload a configuration from the FCB1010 to my Mac using the Control Center it would seem this should work.  Any ideas on what may be occurring.  Thanks in advance for any guidance anyone could provide.

Re: Studio One Bias FX 2 Assignment

Hi there. I’m not sure about Bias, but in S1, when you have the Bias plug-in window open, make sure that your FCB is chosen in the little yellow box in the upper right corner. S1 defaults to your main midi instrument or controller. You have to tie the plug-in with that external midi device through that little box in the corner.
Also, make sure you have setup all the midi message (cc#) info in the external device editor.

Re: Studio One Bias FX 2 Assignment

EJ SHELDON

BIAS FX doesn't require toggling CCs, it responds to any value sent on the assigned CC. That's why UNO is basically pointless in terms of having the LEDs track ON/OFF status.
I had a VERY quick look at the S1 manual. It looks like the FCB needs to be set up as a NEW KEYBOARD, then BIAS gets dragged to a blank spot in the ARRANGER view. But that's as far as I got. Presonus gets today's award for AWFUL MIDI documentation. It also could be a problem with the S1 version. IIRC from when I trialed the demo version, some versions don't support MIDI control of VSTs. I could be wrong though, I hated everything about S1. OP - was there a reason that you switched from Reaper? Some feature of S1 that Reaper lacks?

Re: Studio One Bias FX 2 Assignment

Hi,
I think the issue might be when sending CCs in EurekaProm it only send 127 on press and doesn't send anything on release which is common with guitar effects.  I ran into this problem when trying to get EurekaProm to do a sustain function. It would sustain on but never sustain off.  I ended up going to Uno chip.

Studio One Bias FX 2 Assignment

chase.msn99@...

Hey y'all. Just starting using Studio One, instead of reaper as my DAW of choice, now I cant seem to get my midi signals through to bias.

My fcb1010 has eurekaPROM installed, and works great. When I was using Reaper, I used a second track for MIDI inputs, which then were sent to the guitar track/Bias FX.

I cant seem to find how to do that in Studio One.

In Studio One, my board is configured as a MIDI instrument, which in theory should work.

All inputs from my board are being recognized in Studio One's MIDI Monitor. The issue is when I try and assign controls to a footswitch in Bias FX 2, for example, the plugin does not recognize/receive any MIDI inputs or signals. It seems like this is just a simple set up error. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
