Re: Uno Chip for FCB 1010

One more quick question;

If the FCB 10101 has NO USB or Bluetooth; how do you connect it to the Computer Command Center Editing? etc??.

Thanks

Dave

From the landing page you click PURCHASE, then UNO v1.0.4 Purchase Now, fill out the form and click PROCEED.
Are you not getting past that page?

No, you don't need the UNO chip for the Katana. Katana has a very minimal MIDI implementation.
4 Presets, 5 Stomps, Bank Switch, two exp pedals and the FX Loop Bypass. You can do it all from Bank 00 if you don't need to switch the FX Loop. When I had a Katana (sold long ago) I never saw the point in the FX Loop Bypass (no external FX), so one FCB Bank was all that was required.

The only thing that the UNO chip gets you is the LED functions, and I'm not sure that the faux 2-way communication works with it, since it depends on sending matching ON/OFF signals to the selected Preset on Preset Load, and that is affected by some devices' requirement for a "wait" time between messages. Again, I didn't like the Katana enough to keep it long enough to test that. If you create the Katana Presets with all FX OFF, then use the FCB like a real pedalboard to turn ON only those effects you want to use, then you'll be good without that function.

What does work is that, when you turn an effect ON/OFF the LED will reflect that status. You can't do that with the stock chip because you're actually using Presets, sending a CC# instead of a PC# to activate FX, so the current Preset is the only LED that will light, even though it's not sending a PC#. UNO has a dedicated Stomp Mode, so all selected Stomps stay lit.

TBH - the GAFC is a bit annoying, but you get used to it. The FCB with UNO is total overkill for the Katana.
YMMV of course.

Yes, as Chris mentioned, if you get the UNO Chip (or not), get ControlCenter too. You'll be glad you did.

hows it working out?
Do you have any diagram, Notes or Instructions?
(Where or what is File folder ?)

Click on the link EJ SHELDON provided for you.  Scroll down to the line of Purchase Now buttons (black background).  Pick which one you want and click the button.  If you purchase UnO v.1.0.4, fill out the info and click the Proceed button at the bottom.  Once you finish with that one, go back to the linked page and scroll all the way down.  Find the link for UnO Control Center.  Click it.  Buy it.  It works with the Stock FCB1010, too, so feel free to use it until your UnO PROM arrives.

As for which one you should get, I have no idea.  I'd strongly suggest you find a good MIDI primer and learn it well - it will help you immensely in programming the FCB1010, no matter which firmware you have.

Uno Chip for FCB 1010

I am trying to Purchase the UNO or UNO 2 Chip for FCB1010; but the link doesn’t seem to take me to a Checkout?
Has anyone else been able to purchase?

BECAUSE:

I just bought purchased a Boss Katana Artist Amp; I love it but don’t like having to switch back and forth, between Presets and Effects ;on their GAFC Foot Controller.

SO I just ordered a New FCB 1010 and I would like to use the FCB 1010 to access 4 presets and also turn effects on and off, control the Volume /Wah Wah with the expressions pedals… on the Boss Katana Amp.

And from everything I've read I believe you need the Uno chip and Uno system installed in the FCB 1010 to do this.

Is this true?

  • If so, can you please recommend EXACTLY what to buy/order; maybe send me a link on how to purchase.
  • And What software to download to a Windows PC, etc
  • Is this easy to configure?
  • And of course, any tips or recommendations.

Either way please let me know what to do/ Howe to order / any advice and thanks so much!

Dave

Question about UNO

Dave Saul

Hi guys;
How come I can’t seem “to order” the UNO Chip?
Or how do I ?

I would like to use the FCB1010 with my new Boss Katana.
Thanks;
Dave

Thank you sir!

Re: FCB1010 Uno with Amplitube

EJ SHELDON

This is an ancient thread. IIRC, the sysex was just the one for using Amplitube with the FCB. Here's the file again. Remember that Amplitube uses ON/OFF values of 0/127 instead of the standard 127/0, so that's how the file is configured. If you want to use the standard (127/0) settings, reverse tose in the sysex. That will, of course, require you to do the same on each and every Amplitube BYPASS setting and, if you're using AT5, since they've done away with the GLOBAL BYPASS settings, you'll need to do that on each and every preset. PITA, but it is what it is.

SYSEX attached.

Hmmm, I don't see the attachment!

Correct. A future UnO2 version will allow to remotely control the FCB1010 through MIDI IN, but there's no device specific functionality like showing tuner info.
The UnO4Kemper is dedicated firmware for the Kemper Profiler, so that firmware does show the tuner info of the Profiler on the FCB1010 display.

Re: Tuner receive

chrisw_63

The G-Major can only be controlled by MIDI.  You can, for instance, set the tuning modes.  The manual says it can send PC and CC messages, but nowhere in there does it say what those are.  Even if it could, the stock FCB1010 and UnO 1.x cannot do anything with received MIDI except for the specific SYSEX messages used for programming it.  I don't believe UnO2 can do much with received MIDI either.

Hello, is it possible to receive a tuner data from TC electronic g-major? Uno2? Or can Uno for Kemper do that?

Re: UnO2 INIT_BANK with Direct Bank

I don't communicate any expected release date because I can never predict how much time I can spend on TinyBox+UnO2 development. I wasn't able to work on this for several months now, but I recently continued working on the next firmware version again. I will first work on the TinyBox firmware, because that is much easier to test and debug thanks to the USB-based firmware updates. After that I will copy most or all of the features to the UnO2 firmware. I am also working on a test environment which can do a fully automated functional test of a TinyBox and an UnO2 equipped FCB1010. This will allow to test each and every available command with a press on a button, and ensure that new firmware release doesn't break existing functionality. TinyBox bugfix releases are easy, but UnO2 firmware requires thorough testing in order to avoid sending around buggy EPROM chips.

I have already updated the UnO2 changelog with a list of the expected new features for the next release (not sure yet if I will succeed to get all of that in the FCB1010 EPROM - it will definitely be the last major UnO2 release)  :
https://www.fcb1010.eu/downloads/uno2_changelog.txt

- add-on : possibility to use the up/down switches as preset switches instead of bank up/down
- add-on : possibility to use a data variable for specifying the MIDI channel of MIDI messages
- add-on : command "SendPedal 1" / "SendPedal 2" to send the message for the current expr.pedal position
- add-on : command "GotoSong" / "GotoBank"
- add-on : INIT_BANK support for the Direct Bank
- add-on : possibility to check on current bank/song/preset in conditional commands :
           if(#CURRENT_BANK ==/!= "...") if(#CURRENT_SONG ==/!= "...") if(#CURRENT_PRESET ==/!= "...")
- add-on : possibility to check on an effect state in conditional commands :
           if(EFFECT_ON "...")  if(EFFECT_OFF "...")
- add-on : possibility to send SysEx with the expression pedals
- add-on : possibility to remotely control the FCB1010 through MIDI IN :
           CC 00 nn = GOTO BANK nn
           PC 00-09 = click/release footswitch 1 - 10
           PC 14-15 = click/release Down/Up switch

Re: UnO2 INIT_BANK with Direct Bank

uno@...

Just to follow up on this - it would be really valuable to trigger some additional functionality whenever the Direct Bank is activated. Maybe INIT_Bank is not the correct way (as it is also not called for the original bank when you return from the Direct Bank), but some functionality like this would be really awesome and on #1 of my wishlist.

Are you planning to release a firmware update sometimes soon?

Don't know if it helps the discussion or not -
I'm in the USA.  Ordered a chip a month ago.  Shortly after, I received notice that the order was being shipped.  +13 days after I placed the order, I had the chip in my hands.  +1 hour later, the chip was in my pedalboard.  Not too long after I had a working program uploaded to the unit.
Of course shipping times may vary so don't expect the same results.
