7-pin midi phantom power

Bassist

2 Questions

1. Is there a conversion kit still available for the FCB1010?
2 Is a regular 7-pin DIN cable compatible and/or the same thing as a 7-Pin Midi cable?

TIA

Is there "a conversion kit" ???  Descriptive.

Do you mean, https://shop.tinybox.rocks/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=50  ???

Still wondering about that cable though...

If it's a 7-pin DIN, that's pretty much a standard, but there are other similar connectors that use the term 7-pin DIN just to get search results, so YMMV, be careful what you get.

The one conversion I saw many years ago just used the two unused pins in the 5-pin for power, so you might want to get the conversion to be sure, first.

Ossandust makes a 7-pin phantom power conversion kit for the fcb1010 that works with the Tinybox. I don't know if it would work without the Tinybox or not. I installed it when I upgraded to the Tinybox and it works great.

I used to sell a conversion box which complements the Tinybox phantom power kit. It takes the 7-pin cable and converts it to two 5-pin connectors and a power jack. Mounted in a TinyBox housing. I still have one spare in stock.

Thanks for that - I am going to probably get the tiny box, I just don't need a super long cable, was wondering if a regular 7 pin din was safe so I could get like a 2ft cable instead.

MIDI only uses the middle three pins on the 5-pin DIN connector to send/receive data, so why not just wire the outside 2 pins of the existing 5-pin MIDI OUT socket to the bridge (where the two yellow wires in the FCB attach to the circuit board), and attach a 9v power supply to those pins on the other end of the cable?  Ages ago, I built a MIDI DC injector box that did exactly that.  Worked like a charm.
