WIDI and FCB We should move this to a new thread

I agree this should be a new thread but as a complete novice on these boards I have no idea how to do this.

My setup at the moment is as follows
Ableton live ver 11 (windows)
FCB1010
Adrenalinn 3
Maudio midi controller

I use Live to control the Adrenalinn.
I use the FCB to control lLive session clips
The Maudio is used just to adjust the volumes of the Live tracks
When not using live as additional tracks I use the FCB to control The Adrenalinn direct.
So every thing is connected via midi cables and it is anightmare to sort out in a live situation. Particularly as due to the pandemic I have only just started playing live again and you forget so many things.
So WIDI seems like a good solution.
Any comments / suggestions welcome
Should have said I play guitar so only feet are available to change things

Hi guys.

We just did a parade and then a 2 hour concert this afternoon. My 4 WIDI devices (in a group) worked perfectly with no noticeable latency.

I just plug Ed them in, turned everything on, and they worked great… and no MIDI cables to lay out all over the stage.

I recommend these for every musician.

Best regards,
Alf

Glad it’s working out for you.

I just play for myself at home now-a-days. And my setup has changed drastically in the last 6months or so.
So I’m unloading my hardware synths and most of the supporting gear that went with them. I’m down to two mic stands- one for my monitor, and one for my iPad and mixer. I play an EWI5000 with the Audio Modeling SWAM instruments. Since my hands are both occupied 😉, I also use the FCB to handle extra effects. The Audio Modeling “Camelot” software handles my backing tracks and transpositions when things go into keys that I’d rather not deal with! It also displays the charts and turns pages for me! Camelot can also utilize the FCB for additional Remote Control, like starting tracks for those pesky a cappella starts or for cadenza breaks.

Alf, I like your use of the WIDI Jack for the FCB. I think I might spring for that pretty soon.
I used to have my stuff grouped together - in fact, I was running two groups so that I could go out with a smaller setup or link in when I had everything with me. Now, the EWI & FCB are paired to the iPad. (I think I had to force them both to “peripherals” to do that - I don’t remember!)
I have had them cut out on me a few times - I think from some interference. The Bluetooth frequencies are not as secure as they could be. But it’s just me and the dog who hear it! I’ve heard from many others that they just don’t trust the BLE MIDI devices (like WIDI). For me, it sure beats the hassle with wires.

Cheers,
Jim B

Yes, set them to peripherals with one set as central. I set my Sound Canvas to central so that the FCB1010 can control the sound changes and volumes of 2 channels, and the Roland FR-8x can play the sounds on 2 channels of the Sound Canvas.

I’ve never had a problem with my WIDI connections. It worked perfectly at today’s gig.
