I checked the ControlCenter sourcecode. If the sysex gets corrupted during transmission (= interface problem), ControlCenter reports "Patchdump failed". If the issue is as described above (= setup not correctly stored, probably an FCB1010 hardware issue), ControlCenter reports "Download failed!".
You can try setting the Note velocity directly on the unit, instead of using an editor. If that succeeds, you know the problem is with the interface and not with the FCB1010.

Should I try another MIDI interface?  I see there is a list, which indicates there are some that don't play nice.  I got a super cheap USB to MIDI dongle off Amazon.  I have a rack unit Midisport I believe I used before.

fcb control center says the dump was unsuccessful
As opposed to other editors, FCBControlCenter does a double check : after doing a patchdump ControlCenter again requests the stored setup from the FCB1010 and compares sent and received data byte by byte. If at least 1 byte is different, it reports an unsuccessful patchdump. This might for instance occur when part of the setup memory has gone defective resulting in some settings not being stored. Or when you forget to enable "SysEx Receive" - this was necessary up till UnO v.1.0.2.f

when you don't connect both In and Out MIDI ports
in that case ControlCenter would show a timeout error when trying to connect

OR when you don't connect both In and Out MIDI ports.. haven't seen that asked yet, so may as well check.

Yes - I saw that I had it set to 0 and then changed it and dumped, but it seems to not have taken effect.  I’ll note that fcb control center says the dump was unsuccessful, but I see the unit react and changes are taking effect - except this one.  Says I’m on uno version v.1.0.2.f.

With UnO firmware you can change the NoteOn velocity value - it's a global setting. Set it to a non-zero value.

Hi,
I am only getting note off / 0 velocity notes.  Two per press.  Any ideas on what is wrong?  I have an old uno version and using fcb control center.
Thanks,
Sam
