Hi Anyone figure out how to use the FCB1010 with the looper function in Amplitube? I'd like to be able to assign pedals to start/stop/play/record etc but can't find a way how to do this... thanks! Daf |

The .lgp is a config file which can be installed on an Uno powered FCB1010. If you have an FCB with an Uno chip this software is the best way to save yourself hours of frustration and pain. It is well worth the 20 $/Euros. I have no relationship with the creators but I do have great respect and appreciation for their software. It is worth it. I was ready to demolish my FCB1010 and write it off as a loss until I got this configuration management software. It completely transformed the experience and made the device usable. |

The .lgp file is a sysex file created by the UNO_ControlCenter Editor, and, as expiwrite said, is WELL worth the 20 euros.

I've sent this patchdump to the FCB1010 using the software but still can't figure out how to use it with the looper function on Amplitube - you start recording and move onto the next loop with the spacebar. Is there anyway to assign one of the footpedals to mimic the input of the spacebar?

I'm sure there's reasons that are far beyond my mortal comprehension, and this will be my only snarky comment about it. :-) Normally in AT4, a CC value of 000 = ON and 127 = OFF. This is the reverse of how most midi SW and HW works.Effects BYPASS functions work this way, but not much else. Loops are started and stopped with a value of 000. In order to RECORD a loop, you must first CLEAR that loop manually. LOOPER AUTO (record next loop automatically at end of recording current loop) is turned ON/OFF using a value of 127. This is also the case for LOOPER GLOBAL PLAY and METRONOME. RECORDER functions - PLAY/STOP and RECORD appear to use 000 for PLAY and 127 for STOP. REWIND appears to use 000 OR 127, but only works if you first go to SETTINGS and uncheck "Return to start on stop". All of these functions are found in Banks 00 and 01 (see screenshots). The following functions are found in the highest Bank ('08.' on my v1.0.2f UNO, 18 in ControlCenter) on pedals 8,9 and 10 respectively: Tuner - Normal ON/OFF values. Preset Previous/Next - If you're using Stomps for this it's probably easier, but I can't see wasting 2 of my 5 Stomps for this function. See screeenshot for how it's done. Keep in mind that while the Preset buttons load the presets in the Global Preset list, they are actually loaded from wherever they lived when you loaded them to the list. Preset Previous/Next will load the next preset IN THAT LOCATION, NOT the next preset in the Global Presets List. Your Presets start in Bank 02 with Preset 000, which AT4 sees as Preset 001. You have access to 92 presets. OK, so I just went back and retested all this, and I think it all works as above. Again, if you find something wrong, let me know. I plan to save all of this in a Onedrive location so I 'll never have to do this again. Heck, the only time I even open AT4 anymore is to troubleshoot people's MIDI problems. I wish someone could help me figure out everything (not EVERYTHING) about this Behringer FCB1010 foot controller and I would swear to them that I will produce the next, best, and honestly will be the only EASY to understand and get working for nearly every program on youtube and give them all the accolades for the video. Anyone out there willing to and ale to help me figure out running this pedal board with all the software out there? Because noone that has created a tutorial or help video or anything has been able to make it understandable to me.

The answer to your quest is both simple and complex.
The "configuration" - what message(s) each pedal sends - is called a "SYSEX" - system exclusive. The SYSEX is what is sent to the FCB from an editor, and has a file extension of .syx or, if you're using the UNO_ControlCenter editor, .lgp. NO ONE CONFIGURATION (SYSEX) WORKS FOR ALL APPLICATIONS! As a simple example, in Amplitube, to toggle an effect ON/OFF, a CC Value of 0 = ON, 127 = OFF. Almost every other HW and SW uses the opposite - 127 = ON, 0 = OFF. BUT - BIAS FX doesn't use values at all - when the assigned CC# is received, it toggles - regardless of value, and makes the LED feedback provided when using the UNO chip useless. The FCB has 100 presets arranged in 10 Banks of 10, each of which can send multiple PC, CC and NOTE messages on separate MIDI channels (with limitations) addressing multiple devices per single press. The MIDI spec provides for Banks of 128 presets. An obvious limitation on the usefulness of the FCB. With the UNO chip, there's 95 presets arranged in 19 Banks of 5 dedicated "Stomp" pedals (usually used to send toggling CC messages with LED feedback) and 5 Program Change pedals. All are capable of sending multiple message types. The Stomps remain the same in every Bank, but the Program Change pedals ca all be different. Likewise, the Expression Pedals can send different messages per preset. Is your head spinning? That's because you skipped step 1. You don't understand how MIDI works. Start there. Once you've got a handle on the functions of CC#, PC# and NOTE, Toggling, Presets, Streaming and MIDI Channels, you're ready for Step 2. FOR EVERY APPLICATION YOU WISH TO CONTROL WITH MIDI YOU MUST READ THE APPLICATION"S MANUAL. EVERY APPLICATION IS DIFFERENT! To make it even worse, most manuals are poorly written, especially the MIDI sections. The information I provided elsewhere in this thread concerning the Amplitube Looper was mostly arrived at by trial and error, informed by my knowledge of MIDI. Which brings us back to SYSEX. You will not be able to control every application with a single SYSEX. NO ONE can give you a single all purpose road map to controlling every piece of MIDI HW and SW you'll ever encounter. It's the old "How to eat an elephant" thing. ONE BITE AT A TIME. Contributors to this forum can help you with specific questions pertaining to specific applications, and we can answer specific questions about MIDI, NONE of us (certainly nobody on YT) has a Golden Platter upon which we can load ALL the answers to ALL the questions you might ever have concerning MIDI or the FCB or the various chips that can be installed in it or how to use the FCB with every piece of HW/SW ever created. The information I provided above barely scratches the surface. You learn the way all of us did, one bite at a time. |

hahaha, man just your bit of text has opened my eyes up soo much more to my foot pedal . And at the same time, the majority of what you said I already understood. Thats ironically weird. But yes I do (now im sweating), THINK I know atleast more than anyone I know, about MIDI. Not saying much but maybe if you know a small bit about me first you would get it more. Yes, i get that there's gotta be a balance of what things you want to accomplish with every bit of software you want to use with the device. For instance I have an older Trigger Finger from M-Audio and i figured a way to set nearly to just ONE bank on that device and be able to both use it somewhat ONE-2-ONE with the IMPACT drum machine on studio one, KONG on Reason a Drum rack in ableton live and also a mapped "DJ's tool somewhat Like traktor" to allow me to sit with that and do everything i would need to, to dj say a few albums worth of music. I honestly have found over time that I do way better if I am sitting at my computer and just "RELAX" djing while surfing the web or doing design work or video edinting with the traktor on the side of me. That has given me alot more time to quickly just "listen" to music all while really im practicing things I can use to transition and the best ways to use them.
More than not, I just figured there would be quick not having to practice my searching filters hard and find something simple for my pedal for nearly every device that I use on a regular basis. And it is alot. I use all these apps Id say daily for an hour + nearly every day and have been using most all of them like that since I was 18 (now 39) Studio One, Ablleton Live, Big Wig Studio, Propellerheads Reason, Adobe Audition and thats just the music production and audio editing side of things. I also use nearly the whole adobe suite. and the majority being After Effects & photoshop at this point. I also do 3d modeling, lighting, texturing and animation... I would like to get back to the music side of things though because i have been mearning to "jot my home studio setup" or how people call it mostly on Reddit, there setup's or workstations or whatever, becuaser I use alot.. As a child i would be so impressed with it and envy the guy I am now i suppose, maybe even have a jealousy that turns to a hate in some ways. And thats making some things start to make sense to me. I do have a home studio and engineer a whole lot but lately feel like im managing and even down to being the seed water shit even the SUN to alot of local artists that "want to be" or just want to make songs ...man im sorry about this.. i feel im rambling and just all over I should stick to the point. With all my skills I can surely produce some good video work and wanted to put my skills to a GOOD use for education lol.... and actually figure out this pedal board and better rely that information back to all the people that i've come across and im sure theres more, that are so lost somwhat like i felt a bit when i first bought this thing. I just get so tired trying to type these days and rely that I have questions with people across the internet.. not sure all what that is really.. I had brain surgery a few years ago now and im still relearning myself and doing things. But I just decided that thats sometihing I want to probably poke at to actually find the information both because I could use the board and I have been up on my feet creating music alot more lately. its just more natural both because Im a guitarist more than anything and vibing and just jaming with friends at the house i find it more natural to make better music that more people enojoy.. bla blah blah see i cant stop rambling.. ugh im weak now and tired just from typing this.. Anyway i guess... overall I have figured out the basics of the device and getting so I can actually map things with the various software using basic midi mapping but i admit i am not a huge expert on midi. I do get the 2 commands things because of the lights on the pedal somewhat. the only real hasstle that i havent gotten yet was I cant get anything that i would like to map with the second expression pedal setup so i can use it. Like so far, to me the second pedal doesn't event work beside the fact that I have seen midi commands going through with i press it . So maybe start there. How do I make the device ready so I can say.. take ableton.. or FIRST ampltube and LEARN/MAP things to that second expression pedal? A few posts ago I attached a screenshot of the AT4 Globals and a ControlCenter sysex (.lgp).
If you load the sysex in ControlCenter and compare it to the AT4 Globals screenshot you'll see that I have Exp Pedal A assigned to VOLUME and Exp Pedal B is assigned to both the WAH and WHARMONATOR. If you put all 3 pedals in an AT4 preset and assign a pair of Stomp buttons to the WAH and WHARMONATOR, you'll see that the VOLUME pedal always works (on by default, no Stomp assigned) with Exp Pedal A and while the visual of the pedal action will show BOTH the WAH and WHARMONATOR being actuated, only the one turned ON via it's assigned Stomp button (preset saved with both OFF) will affect the sound. In order to LEARN any MIDI command, you highlight the Global function, click LEARN, then press the FCB button or expression pedal which you wish to use for that function. Note that I have the expression pedals assigned in every preset and every Stomp. That's because in order to activate the expression pedals, you must press either a preset or Stomp button to which they've been assigned. This only needs to be done once per session. |
