Functionality Question

guitarreverend

Is it possible with te uno-software that after a patch change is send,
also the value of one or both the expression pedals is send? So that
for instance the volume, controlled by one of the expression pedals,
does not change?

reverend,

My humble opinions - please don't be offended that I disgree ...

Since the FCB's expression pedals are not "global", that is, they
are configured per preset, this approach does not seem intuitive.

This type of functionality, where you wish to have volume level
persist when you change patches, is really a function of the gear
you are controlling -- not the controller (i.e., FCB).

Example: My PodXt's volume control (CC#7) is global. It keeps its
value when I change patches. Pod's other global, controllable
parameter is wah enable. In my case, this behavior did not work for
me so I defeat this by sending a fixed CC message along with every
Program Change. So, I turn off the wah and normalize my volume with
every patch change.

So, I'm not sure how this feature would be handy in a general way...?

Mike,

I use the fcb1010 to control my Boss GT-Pro. It has a global setting
called ASSIGN_HOLD. It means that everything that is switched on/of
or changed via MIDI will also have the same value in the new selected
patch or not. It is as far as I can see the only way to keep the same
patch volume (using EXP A) as in the previous selected patch. But the
downside is that every effect that was selected (by CC change) in the
previous patch, will also be selected in the new patch.
So I figured that when the expression pedal would send a CC value
after a patch change, I could set ASSIGN_HOLD to off (= no selected
effects are transfered to the new pach) and have the same patch
volume. I was hoping that "running status" would do this.

BTW: Nah... I'm not easily offended.

Hi!

Do You use stompbox mode? 'cause You can program the stomps for those CC-s
and regular patches can set the on/off status of every stomp (thus setting
the proper CCs on/off). That way You might leave ASSIGN_HOLD on. Isn't it a
solution for Your issue?

Running status is a red herring I think.

Running status is a MIDI concept whereby repetitive messages may
be "shortened" on the MIDI stream. It's a form of data
compression. It does no actually change the information, it just
sends it using fewer ones and zeros...

Hey Zsazsi,

If I get you right: When only selecting a patch the fcb1010 would
send the patch change and the desired on / off status for the stomps?
That would solve my problem :)

Ah. Confusing name for such a functionality. And it's only briefly
mentioned in the Behringer manual. Thanks for clearing that out.

Hi!

Yes, take a look at the UnO documentation, You can see that the state (and
the value of its midi msg) of the stomps can be determined with normal
preset by normal preset.
