Pressing a button in Mainstage
Victor Eijkhout
I seem to have FCB, ControlCenter, Midi interface, Mainstage all connected: if I press a button on the FCB, Mainstage registers activity.
So what I want to do is press a button on the FCB that presses the Record button on the Loopback plug. Press once, record; press again, stop recording. What do I need? A CC? I've tried something but no luck. |

What is "Loopback plug"?

It’s a MainStage plugin that allows you to do live looping. And I figured it out? MainStage has a midi learn facility: press “assign” and it learns. Now my question about the FCB is: is there a way to have a button with just a single tap? Not on/off, but only: press. Also: do the stomp box switches have to be on the second row? It’s awkward reaching over the first row; I’d really like the front row to be the buttons that I press. Victor. |

The Stompboxes can be on either row. Just "Press"? If you mean momentary vs latching, yes, that is easily done. |

Or, does just "press" mean it sends the same message every time, yes, that is also easily done.

You want to give me a hint how? Victor. |

In screenshot "Momentary" you can see that, in Stompbox Mode, on Button 1 there's two icons - a stompbox and a sustain pedal. Just click the sustain pedal to make it momentary.
In "Momentary2" I'm using a regular Preset pedal. You set CC1 and CC2 to the same CC#s with different values. In the screenshot I have "CC Toggling in regular presets" set to OFF. If it's ON you just set both values of each CC the same. The difference in the way the two methods work is that, using a Stompbox, it works like an actual sustain pedal, it's ON until released. Using a regular preset it sends both messages immediately. |

Thanks for the screenshot. Now that I know it’s possible I found the option in the manual to put the stomp boxes on the front row. Victor. |
