First off, apologies for my MIDI newbieness. I only received my FCB1010 and UnO a few days ago but I'm hit with a wealth of problems despite hours of googling. Currently I'm experimenting with controlling Ableton Live 8 (as per http://www.xlr8r.com/tv/42). I've been using Ripwerx to edit and I'm slowly learning but what puzzles me is how to use the boards banks to trigger different scenes (or anything else for that matter beyond a few midi mappings). As I understand it, you have limited undefined CC#s which are CC#'s 22-31, and 84-90. So surely that means I only have 17 possible pedals to trigger... which is less than two banks. Excuse my ignorance, but what am I missing?

I am using FCB1010 MIDI Editor https://secure.mtnsys.com/faq-fcb/pceditorbeta.htm I will be using the FCB1010 graphic to explain what I did but the concept should be the same. 1) Select an empty bank with the up or down pedals - 09 for example. 2) Press on a pedal to choose a channel to program - 1 for example. 3) With everything unselected everything except Note - Value and assign 0. Instead of using ControlCommands, or CC as it is normally called, I use a note value (0 to 127) to send the trigger. 4) Now your #1 pedal on bank 9 is programmed. 5) Repeat step 2 but use a different pedal instead of 1. 6) Repeat step 3 but add 1 to the number you assigned to make sure you are not sending the same note. (x + 1) so if we used 0, then x would be 0. If we used 74, then x would be 74. Basic Algebra. Assign 3 pedals in editor, update pedalboard. Now for the Ableton Live part. I am going to give an instant result - bring a feeling of accomplishment to you right away. On your pedal board, make sure you are on Bank 09 (or what ever bank you used earlier). 1) Open New Live Set in Ableton - or just start the program. 2) Mouse click on MIDI - you should see a lot of purple. 3) Mouse click once on the Metronome (two dots on right of 4 / 4). 4) Press pedal 1 once. You should see the color change from purple to (i don't remember off hand) and there will be some new information in MIDI Mappings (below the Metronome area). 5) Mouse click once on the Play button (triangle). 6) Press pedal 2 once. 7) Mouse click once on the Stop button (square). 8) Press pedal 3 once. 9) Mouse click on MIDI again. Purple should disapear. Now an easy test: 1) Press pedal 1 once - the Metronome box should turn yellow. Press again, it should go off. 2) With the Metronome ON (yellow box) - press pedal 2. The Play button should be green and you should hear the Metronome. 3) Prss pedal 3 to stop the playback. If you have any problems or questions, please ask.

afraid it didnt work. I set each pedal to an individual note (eg, pedal 1 = note 1, pedal 2 = note 2, etc...but with nothing else selected in the editor you suggested.
Now all that happens is that Ableton midi mapping detects each pedal as "CC 0" and only works on every other press of the pedal.
I didn't realise how frustrating this pedal could be!

Sounds like the programmer didn't update the changes to the FCB1010 itself. The reason I say that is because Ableton is recieving CC messages and not MIDI notes.
Are you still using Ripwerx or did you try the FCB1010 Midi Editor?

FWIW, I had better luck programming a non-Uno FCB1010 for Ableton than using Uno.
I assigned CC#s for each pedal all the way through each bank...

One of the coolest discoveries for me was figuring out how to assign two of the stomp pedals as "up" and "down" tempo controls. A push on each increments the BPM by 3 or so. It was not easy at all to set up though.... Warm regards, Joel Laviolette and Rattletree

I programmed mine the same way with CC messages the first time around but I would have to double press the pedal if I pressed another pedal - which I did a lot.
It's all about what someone finds to be the easiest for them :)

OK, I have absolutely no idea what I've done now...
Since I last had it all working a few weeks ago I just turned it on and pedal 1 made numbers display (+40) it also didnt work in ableton as it did previously.
So, I re-sent the sysex (using just midi notes) and it still doesn't work in ableton! I can't even map the pedals!
Surely nothings changed right? Any ideas what's happened?

Hello there. It's being some time now as I
see that you have talked about ART SGX 2000. But you are my only chance. I
also own an ART SGX 2000 and of course an FCB 1010.
I am struggling to program them to
work together. So far I can only switch from effect to effect from banks and
also direct (from global mode). It could be helpful if you can help me with the
expression pedals programming also how I can program an effect to a specific
position (FE ARTs position 87 to Bank 1 position 8. Although I follow instructions nothing. Pedals reconciled, from
global mode settings set. Nothing dead as a fish. Any tips will be appreciated. ---In fcb1010_uno@..., <pesterbrooks@...> wrote : SOUNDS SIMILAR TO THE PROBLEM i HAD WITH PROGRAMING IT FRO MY ART SGX2000 NOW I HAD TO TURN OF OMNI MODE TO STOP THE MULTIPLE SIGNALS (IE PRESS A PEDAL IN THE STOMP BOX ROW AND CHANGE OTHER COMMANDS NEEDING TO GO BACK AND AND RESET THE FCB 1010 THEN INITIALIZE THE EXTENDED MEMORY THEN PUT IT IN STOMP BOX MODE TO GET IT TO WORK ON TWO DIFFERENT MIDI UNITS

First - you are in the UNO area. Does your FCB have the UNO chip? If YES then which version of the chip are you using?
