Uno2 Firmware updates

Hi all, have been an FCB1010 owner for some 18 years now... same unit, still going strong!

I'm thinking of getting an Uno2 chip and was just wondering what the situation is regarding firmware versions/updates.

I see on the website that the latest version is 1.3 (although it says "experimental")... yet the link to buy says 1.0

If I buy one today - what version will it have?

Also, is it easy enough to install new updates and are they free once you have the chip?

Would appreciate any advice, thanks :)

Hi,

when you buy the UnO2 chip you always get the latest version, which is v.1.2 - I have updated the text on the website, which was not kept up to date. (the UnO2 change log mentions v.1.3 as "work in progress", which means it has not been released yet. No idea when it will get released - if ever)
For updating the firmware you will always need to buy a new chip, which will not be free. I planned to provide bugfix releases at reduced price, but there have not been blocking issues which required such release (except for a bugfix release of the editor software, which was free)

regards,
Xavier

Thanks for clearing that up. Personally, of all the features discussed as possibilities for v1.3 the ability to send preset changes via the up/down pedals is the most attractive - not sure if I've understood what that would mean correctly, but the ability to cycle through a range of presets on one particular effect would be very useful - e.g. different lengths of delay, or cycling through amp channels. So I hope it does get released one day!

Actually this option is meant for people who don't need multiple banks. As they don't need the "bank up" / "bank down" functionality they can use those up/down switches as 2 extra preset switches. So those switches don't add any "cycling" functionality, their behavior becomes identical to the other 10 preset switches.
The functionality you are after is already available in the current UnO2 firmware, thanks to the "programming" possibilities with variables : you can for instance define a "PCNumber" variable, and on each switch click increase that variable and send a ProgChange with that "PCNumber". This way you cycle through all presets of a device. You can do exactly the same for cycling through different delay values or anything else.

Yes that's me - I don't need multiple banks. Just to be clear then- currently with v.1.2 I could assign any of the 10 preset swtiches to control preset "cycling", but not the bank switches?

That's correct.
