UnO Firmware Expression Pedal Display
David Frascone
I love the display showing the setting . . makes it easy to find the exact same volume you used last time :)

I used the UnO firmware for the first time this past weekend. One
thing I noticed, that I had not seen before, was that the display changed as the expression pedal was pressed. While this showed the settings as the pedal was used, I found this more distracting than anything else. It also made it harder to quickly confirm the current preset selected (with a simple glance down) as the any pedal movement alters the display for a short time. For what it's worth, I would have preferred the display not shown or placed on a bit setting that could be disabled. Ed |

The short value display is invaluable to me. The Vetta's wah is very
position sensitive. It can go from useable to down right horrible in a matter of a couple of CC values. Being able to at least get close to the sweet spot with a quick press is great. The alternative (for me) is to set up alternate mins and maxes, but an overdrive stomp (or some other change without a PC) makes the useable range within any preset vary drastically. Like everything, turning it off would be great (if you don't like it), but something else would need hard coded to add the option. Do I have the mantra down pretty well X? I won't start a poll on that one - it would and fifty-fifty anyway... :-)

I generally use min volume on each preset to handle same volume
issues. For synth sounds, I have min to 0 and sometimes use guitar controls to handle desired volume for on/off parts during a song. Clearly some really like this, while others find it less useful. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I would have prefereed a turn off option, but may not be in the cards... I look at the audience during performance ;-P Seriously, I found it a nice feature, that shows up for not longer than half a second after movement. Regards Zsazsi -----Original Message----- |

At church, where this pedal is used, I spend a lot of time looking at
music. When I do glance down for a guitar or synth preset change, I am only interested in bank and preset. I see how many might use it very differently, and for them it might well be a plus. For me it was not, but that's just me and how I use the FCB.
